GorkaMorka Wasteland Terrain

Have been working on various elements of Gorkamorka for the last 2 weeks. I've got 6 models completed that have magnetic arms and weapon packs. It would seem the more inebriated I am the better the magnets respond because the other day I spent 2 hours trying to unfrak a couple of the magnets that were set with the wrong polarity; while I was sober... but alas, that is for another post.

I've also been working on a new terrain table for more than 5 days now. Jonny asked for some pics... all I have are WIPs. The following shows you 2 sections of the 4 I'm working on. Yep that will make an 8 foot board. Not shown is the board with a series of islands over a toxic lake, and then the starts of an abandoned Imperial city. The sections are partially modular. Since I took the image below, I've completed 2 more levels of dry brushing as well as a final wash of Woodland Scenics: Burnt Umber. It looks great but you'll have to see it for yourself (when is the next game??? and when is Joel going to respond to my emails????)  I ran out part way through the final coat so I've had had to cease paint ops until my ebay order arrives. Otherwise, I plan on adding a series of modular: rock spires, wooden forts, wrecked vehicles, a "Mork-Donalds", and various scrap piles. As it stands, I should be done with 3 of the 4 sections by Saturday. One way or another, you'll have an update with pics!

So the boy and I played a 1000 points of Templars vs Orks and after a few hours both of discovered we really really wanted to play Gorkamorka again.  From there we schemed over what would be in our gangs and have been converting our butts off ever since. We also decided we would magnetize portions of our gangs to better play into "what-you-see-is-what-you-get". Arms and backpacks seem to be where we're going with the magnetization. Could have gone overboard and done heads and torsos but we decided that was a bit too much. As it sits we both have about 5 guys to put together and paint and maybe a few augments to 2 existing  vehicles and we're ready to roll into battle. Oh wait!!! While I was at work today I drew up a beautiful schematic of a modular wasteland table and plan on throwing the project together tomorrow. All I need is some texture paint, some brown and tan paint and the rest should be a breeze with all of the crap I've collected over the eons.  More posts to follow!

GorkaMorka

Cody and I downloaded the rules for Gorkamorka; Amazing!!!  The rules are a bit tricky and detailed but I love the game. Imagine Necromunda and/or Mordheim in an Ork world with lots of vehicles. I could play only this game for the rest of my days, and no other, and be completely satiated. Cody likes it but complains mush of the complicated rule structure. If I find another Ork player I will def attempt to jump on this band wagon. Otherwise, I think it's going to be 40k for the foreseeable future. I will continue to push the game onto my young padawan but I think it's going to be difficult to convince him to donate the hobby time away from his Chaos marines. Check out the GW site and download the rules. The rule set is probably from the late 1980's but you can see where Necromunda and Mordheim got their push. On the other hand, I might be able to convince the boy to try necromunda as I believe the rules are less complicated... I-Munda comes to mind after this...
