Templars Rising - "Heresy grows from idleness"

"Heresy grows from Idleness."
The Hoth system is tainted with Chaos. Preliminary reports were confirmed on Trihoth when the guardsmen near the idol of Chaos attacked our battle brothers.  Our duty is to purge this vile influence and grant the Emperors peace to these pathetic people.

Brothers, know that it is possible for some of the THeX to still be within the Emperor's light. Until we find this proof consider them our enemy and that we are fighting a moral threat that is diametrically opposed to our Imperium and our great Emperor. We must utterly destroy them.... We must destroy them all!!!

  1. Nice progress so far. Is that the 750 points that beat me?

The bionic eye on Brother Valtz is nice bit of detail. I had thought of doing something like that for the lord commissar (whenever I build him).

I think the gold chain on the autocannon is a bit ostentatious for the Black Templars but I do understand that a plain metal chain may just fade into the black with the extreme highlights.

The work on the purity seals (? badges on the terminators) is nice. You and Jonny do great freehand work. I can't keep my damn hands steady long enough to do a good highlight.

Stay lined up just like that a few battle cannon or plasma cannon shots will do me a world of good.

  2. Damn dude, just pure awesome. You need to seriously send those to GW and show them what a Black Templar army should look like! Maybe they'll post your army on the "What's new Today" thing, they always show off other people's work. Damn that is a sweet looking army.

  3. Ha-Ha, thanks fellas. I feel all warm in side now... making it all worth it. Personally, I love the extreme highlight concept. It reminds me of japanimation and makes these guys strike out as larger than life. I've tried military-style detail in the past and it all gets lost on the table, especially when you're looking at the model from 3 feet away.

I got the idea of painting things gold from a GW post. They had their bolters painted gold and said it was, "...to better reflect the light of the Emperor." Yeah, I stole that line from them in an earlier post on your Commissar. Anyways, I think you pinged it. While it is a bit too much "bling" for what you would believe "pius" warriors to be, it really helps with color transition. Black, Red, White and Gold... probably the most amazing color scheme outside of McDonalds.

  4. Funny thing about Brother Valtz is I was tired of f'ing around with his real eye and went with the bionic eye concept... so much paint had built up I didn't have a choice.
