I'm a little late posting the images from our recent games. Ryan rolled over and played 2x 600 point games with us... vs Cody's new Dark Angles and the other against my Orks. It was a blood bath. The IG really showed how badass they could be!
600 pts IG vs Dark Angels
The DA were clustered on a ridge line awaiting the IG advance. They had good cover but the torrent of fire during the approach was enough to widdle the spacemarines down over the rounds.
When the terminators entered the city, they immediately went to work gutting the IG command squad and making short work of a unit of scout walkers. However, they wouldn't be able to converge on the main IG body in time.
The IG armored fist units and heavy support tank closed on the ridge and wiped out the remaining spacemarines save the Librarian. He had left the safety of cover and charged the vehicle formation. It was a lost cause though... the Librarian would fall.
The game came down to the terminators charge. They went through several volleys of fire and finally began hewing through guardsmen but there were just too many.

600pts IG v Orks
I don't think I've ever seen the orks get beat so bad so fast. From the start every IG unit he had could rain down fire on the ork advance... great setup Ryan! IG plasma made short work of the Dreadnought on the far right flank and the sheer number of lasgun fire and flamers were able to repel the war biker and 'ard ork assaults.
Those were fun games, 600pts requires a different way of thinking for sure. I'm definetly worried about facing those bikers in greater numbers.

DeleteMy Orks got crushed in an 1850 point game! It was ridiculous!!! A couple of things I learned:
ReplyDelete- 'Kommandos' are nearly fucking useless cause they can't assault when they come on from the board edge.
- Not to forget the Warboss has a bosspole and he can reroll his leadership... this way he won't drive off the board in the 1st fucking round.
- The Big Mek's 'Kustom Force Field' provides a 4+ "obscured" save to vehicles.
- Not having ordnance weaponry against IG is stupid.
- Bikes are still amazing!
- The Deff Dredd is not worth the points if not protected by the KFF.
- Grot Heavy Weapon Batteries are beast!! But don't set them up too close to your table edge.
- I need to utilize fliers ($41 later I have one inbound)
- Ork Shoota Boyz rock but they need to constantly move forward or they will be out of range for most of the game.
- Ork Sluggaz, not as useful as shootas. Better utilized in ridiculously oversized mobs... which I can't stand. If ya gotta use them put them in a truck and run them up behind the battle wagon.
- 'Ard Orks are a jewel. Expensive but very hardy against assaults with IG.
- Regarding Battlewagons, two is one, one is none. You need one loaded with Lootas and the Big Mek and another with tons O' guns... and an embarked assault unit for the latter part of the game when each objective counts or you need a cavalry unit.
- Tank Busters... Hell to the yeah. Worth every penny but very vulnerable.
*Great game Ryan... it was like none I have ever played; I never once had the upper hand... an ass-kicking for 4x hours!
