"Boss, dis ding only godz one bar..." |
So, lately I've been dabbling in quite a few undertakings. From Ebay to Orks to Inquisimunda... If I've sparked any interest keep reading!
OMGE Ebay!
I have been spending so much time on Ebay. Both at work and at home. You can save so much money on this hobby by being patient and digging. Explore the various small business pages and you will constantly find "diamonds in the rough." Here's a look at some of the stuff I picked up for extremely reasonable prices:
For Orks:
5x Warbike Bases
3x FW Nob Warbikers
5x FW Ork Gasmask Heads
2x Boxes of Ork Lootaz
For Illuminatus (Inquisimunda):
Eldar Harlequin Shadowseer
2x Cadian Officers
Lucius the Eternal
Fabius Bile (The Wicked's Magus)
Chaos Sorceror (Games Day Model '10)
Escher Juve (Best looking female model GW puts out)
Orks iz back!
I mentioned this in a previous post. Basically, I want Cody's Dark Angels to play against something other than my Templars. I figured Ryan is tired of losing to Templars too. So I broke out my old Orks. Man do they suck. I've played Ryan twice so far and was just about tabled both times. However, I know what's wrong. I'm using a 4th edition army with 6th edition rules. I did the same thing in 5th edition allowing Joel to win the few games that we played. I basically get blasted across the board and finally charge just to get blasted before I lose what's left of the unit. Time to break out the Dakka! The new plan is pretty straight forward. Dakka Wagons up the middle, Warbikes on the flanks and Kommandos from the rear... throw in a Dakka Jet and I think I have a solid fighting force. This does mean I need to buy a Dakka Jet, build a couple Battle Wagons, paint 12 bikers and build/paint 10 more Lootas. I'll also have to start from scratch on normal troops as all of mine are armed with c/c weapons and they need to have Shootas for the added benefits 6th edition provides to shooty units.
Illuminatus (Inquisimunda)
Every spare minute I get I've been transcribing the rule book and adding the coolest pics I can find from google image searches. Being that this is strictly for fun and the advancement of a 40k skirmish I'm not really concerned with the particulars of copyrights. At this point all I have left are the warbands and gear/weapons tables.
The Wicked
Momentum slowed down last week. Only got through the Magus. I think he could have turned out better. I could probably have spent a month detailing him but I'm more interested on a solid "B" worth of effort so I can get warband onto the table.
Can't wait for Dark Angels vs Orks! I must do a space marines duty & purge the xenos!!!
ReplyDelete"Oi! Bugger off 'fur I crumps ya!!"
ReplyDeleteSee my Guard were trying to defeat the Templars with the pacifist ideals made famous by the Ghandi and Dr. Martin Luther King. I've now moved into a more Malcolm X phase. Plymoth Rock's gonna land on their head next time!
ReplyDeleteRyan
We will blast Plymouth Rock out of the sky and use the fragments to outline the fire pit we will use to burn the remnants of your traitor Guard, lest they return as something of the warp...
ReplyDeleteWhoa whoa whoa .... "I out of it for a little while, everybody gets delusions of granduer."
ReplyDeleteSeveral things wrong with your statement concerning me.
1)Eldar codex is older than the Ork codex and thus by your logic weaker because it is older.
2)Nob biker squads are pretty damn cheesey no matter the edition.
3)Undefeated since 2002 ... before 4th edition. (If you can play fast and loose with the facts, so can I).
Nah, I'm pretty sure your Eldar streak didn't start until 4th edition... but I get it, a very long streak at not losing. However, in recent years I recall ties being the extent of your power.
DeleteYou failed to understand what I was saying... the army builds I was going with were best used in previous editions of 40k. Remember how effective the choppa was? It made the enemy's saving throw a 4+ regardless. How about Burnas that counted as meltas. Ork vehicles suck more than they ever have w/ Hull points and now close combat troops are getting the shaft as they charge into melee... all of this screams you can't play a 3rd/4th edition
army list in 6th... I just didn't want to listen (or change it).
You get punished in points for Nob Biker squads. 450 for seven. They do some damage yeah, but in 6th they've lost some of their crumping ability.
More to follow... off to work.
