City of the Dead - Unlikely Allies

Dark Eldar, Imperial Guard, and a Chaos Lord; all the most unlikely of allies. As the three stared down the barrel and blade at one another, the dead began to walk again. For a brief moment in time, the three would not seek to destroy each other and would turn their weapons towards the walking wailing legions that arose to kill again.

THeX heavy weapons teams would rip through an untold number of undead. Despite their martial discipline and accuracy, they would be betrayed at a critical moment of the fight.

Lord Kratos setting the field of battle against his temporary allies.

With a forked tongue, Lord Kratos suggests the THeX soldiers could easily handle this group of living death. Lord Kratos would smile under his face plate and leave them to their fate.

The heavy weapons team would get some help, but not from the Lord of Chaos.

The Dark Eldar construct would see to the redeath of more than 30 of the abominations.

Two  brave THeX soldiers flanked this group of shambling dead. A flame thrower would see the Emperor's will done with great effect.

It was brilliant! But not enough...

The dark lord left the humans to their fate and joined the winning side of the battle.

After holding their own for so long, there would be an end to the light of those that shined brightest. A daemon closed in on the beacon of hope and snuffed it out.

Dark Eldar are so adept at torture that even in death, their is no rest. The Talos would scale the battlefield and live on to tell the tale.

"Not dead yet you vile thing... don't you turn your back on me!!!"

A sniper holding on for dear life. A command squad arrives to reinforce; but no one is left...

Easy prey.

The final stand. None would leave alive.

  1. I love battle shots. Since this became a debate afterward, what about changing focus on this to more 40k. Turn from Zombies to Tyranids much like the inspirational video?

So imagine hordes of Hormagaunts, the cheap no thrills assault only Tyranids. I've got 40+ of the bastards painted, more than enough. Something similar to the Battle Missions book where the board is divided into six sections, a D6 is rolled to determine how many squads will delpoy, then another 2D3 to determine where the squad deploys from. The Hormagaunts can arrive from anyone of the six areas, but no two squads can deploy in the same area and they shall not be deployed less then 18" from any Friendly model. Squads sizes can be straight up 10 models or for some randomness 2D6 or the like. After each round, D3 no thrills Genestealers will arrive the same way (each their own squad). On the Sixth round 3 no thrills (less than 100 point & no guns each) Tyranid Warrior Primes deploy the same way, but no less than 24" from any friendly model. Once all Tyranids are killed, then the battle turns to an all out deathmatch.

Some random shit I thought of.

  2. Scrapped the previous post, talked about what friendly guys can use...didn't like it.

Also I meant 1D6 where models deploy from and 2D3 for how many squads deploy. Got those backwards.

  3. I love the idea of Nids being the mission enemy. I like the idea of a variable deployment zone. I say keep the independant model rule we were using (otherwise we would die way tooooooo quickly). I propose adding a few objectives. Think: if you capture an objective your model gets a special weapon or becomes an elite of your choice... or something like that.

Lets give it a whirl! I'm ready any weekend and am off for the next 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I love the pics and captions.

I like the idea of the nids being the enemy too. I do like the independent model idea. I do like the random deployment and I like the random squads for deployment.

I don't remember tne primes. Do you mean 100 per prime or 100 for the three.

I love the objective idea. Would it be random or predetermined?

As for friendly models I suggest no monstrous creatures, hq, or vehicles and only only allow infantry, possibly jump and cavalry. How many points?

Getting together is a problem for me as I am busy for the next 3 weekends. Sorry.

  5. Primes are what the old baseline Hive Tyrant was, or pretty much Warrios on a heavy dose of steroids. Primes are 80 points base each, sounds high now that I think of it. So how about just baseline Warriors, 30 points each. What I'm picturing is an escalating powered opponent with each wave until the end. I know, maybe the grand finale is a Carnifex from the furthest table edge....oh wait a Trygon! Yes! Just kidding.

What about the kill-team rules for friendy models? Elite is 0-1, Troops 0-2 & Fast 0-1. Once again no MCs, vehicles etc. Not sure of Kill-team rules really, just basing what I see in Army Builder.

This weekend is bad for me, I can shoot for next weekend.
