The Crypt Legion Dynasty was victorious. The planet of Jorvasken is securely in the grasp of Lord Chromius. The galaxy will live with the nightmare of the Necron Tyr Lord once more.
(Apologies for the low quality pics... lighting was terrible and we had to use the flash for most of them.)
"Foul Xenos, make no mistake... your days are numbered and the might of the Emperor's wrath will crush you like an insect."
ReplyDelete"Weapon's Officer, release High Yield Vortex Bombs; full spread. This planet will cease to exist..."
(Great job Cody! Was a very challenging fight!)
I hear assaulting has suffered in this edition. Was that what did in the BT?
ReplyDeleteThere were several factors involved. I have to run so I'll try to get the main points out quickly.
ReplyDelete1. Gauss weapons inflict a Glance on vehicles if they roll a 6 to penetrate. Vehicles, by and large, have 3 hull points and lose one for a glance or a penetrating hit. So when a squad of 12x Necrons rapid fires (24x shots); what ever it's shooting is destroyed. Dreadnoughts, Chimeras... gone.
2. Emperor's Champion didn't have much of a chance against the C'Tan phase god but he held on for 3 rounds. He had a squad backing him up but they had to sit there and watch the characters duke it out (See new Character Challenge rule).
3. Commander Tyrion and his Thunder Hammer didn't do as well as I had expected. 6x attacks on the charge... I could hit but I just couldn't roll high enough to bring down the Monolith and the Wraiths just kept rolling their invulnerable saves and lived on. He would eventually be recalled from the battle field.
4. While we're talking about close combat... BT lost the rerolls they once had for the vow "AACNMTO". Sure we get the Rage +1 Attack on the charge, special rule, but this is a far cry from what we used to have. I only get 3 or 4 charge s in a whole game so the 50 point cost for the vow almost isn't worth it.
5. The charge of the IG Horsemen was a bit of a disaster. Ryan and I set it up pretty good. We shot out all of the barriers and finally took the Monolith off the board... 12x juicy Necrons laid in wait. His rough riders charged the line. The Necrons looked at each other, and basically shot & hacked at the horses for 2 rounds until the horses thought better of the situation than their masters. Sure the charge looked bad ass and it took down a good number of the warriors but they all came back. The Necrons won the subsequent melee rounds. By the way we thought we had this game won at this point; however, a unit falling back counts as destroyed for Victory Points.
6. F@CK Mind Shackle Scarabs!
7. I am completely reworking my list and have a table filled with books and bitz to begin reconstruction of my force. I have no recourse... I am going "Black Wing." (Basically. Fast attacks and Terminators.)
Good pictures and the lighting is not that bad. Intervening terrain is going to be even more important than it was before for assault armies.
ReplyDeleteThe cavalary charge didn't do that much damage? I thought that necrons couldn't get up after power weapon hits?
ReplyDeleteI had about triple the number of pics which I had to remove from the batch I posted. Thanks for the props though.
ReplyDelete"We'll be back" used to be like that. However, we reviewed the new codex and it didn't say anything about not coming up after a power weapon hit... I may look again just to be doubly sure.
Yeah, the cavalry charge fell short of the awesome damage we expected. He had like 8+ in there too! They are very fragile and really really suck after the charge. I could not believe what was happening... ha-ha-ha
Ha! Chromius is a great name for a necron!
ReplyDeleteI see you are right about the We'll be back. Huh.. not as big of a downgrade as I thought it was.
