"...some men aren't looking for anything logical like money. They can't be bought, bullied, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn..."
An excellent suggestion! I tend to lean towards Pathfinder as it is D&D with a tweaked rules set for greater character customization and faster combat sequences. It is also very well supported with tons of source books and sites. I've been keeping a notebook in an effort to build a new and unique world... thanks to the GoT series.
Still, your recommendation of straight up D&D has not fallen on deaf ears... er ,um blind eyes. I'll poke through the net to see what we can dig up. I think what ever we play will have to be via blog, like we did before, as complete sync ups will be very difficult.
I think we'll be able to find free copies of the basic rules online. However, I picked up a hard copy Core Rules and DM guidebook a couple of months ago... absolutely packed with info. If this thing kicks off to everyone's liking it may be a worthy investment to pick up a couple of the books which suit you. Tonight, I'll begin crafting the site and putting together some reference docs and links. In order to have all of the wickets filled we'll probably work towards a Sunday or Monday start date (perhaps sooner). Even if it's just us three for awhile I think there will be a good amount of entertainment value braving the dungeons deep.
After months of my free time sucken deep into Skyrim....I'll be happy to try it out. I'm working my ass off as usual....will try to participate when I can!
eh erm eh ... I don't know. Maybe. It was very frustrating playing over ocmputer. Blog only and it may be possible but I am afraid it will be glacialy slow.
Sean fixed that problem; although he paid $10 to buy it. It may already be available for free over google docs (MTF). We'll be able to share all of our files this way.
It might be slow at first but no worries, we've committed so I intend to start with Sean and Cody probably Sunday or Monday and we'll make it part of our daily rhythm to game it out. I'll design a user friendly iphone display too so we can check in with our phones. Otherwise, there's a lot to do first... blog site, rules familiarization, house rules compendium... background story.
New news: We decided to keep the scale of game somewhat believable so magic in general, including magic weapons and "metahumans" aren't super rampant. Each keep to their own kind (of course). If I had to give you an example, imagine LOTR meets Game of Thrones.
Woooh!!! I hear that!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen do we start?!!!
ReplyDeleteHow about straight up D&D? I bet we could find a supportable program to allow us to play via interwebs.

Any other thoughts on the matter?
Pathfinder sounds interesting. What would be the cost for this start-up? Just the core rulebook?

ReplyDeleteNot crazy on buying a rule book either.

Although, I think to save time I'll just use prefab game tiles from Map share.
