So the boyz did alright. 1x Win, 1x Loss, and 1x very questionable Draw. There were 3x scenarios (3x games) and you were allotted 500 points for 3 units; 1x HQ, 1x Troop and 1x unit you've never used before. I went with a Warboss on a warbike, 12x 'Ard Orks in a War Truck, and a Mob of 10x Lootaz.
Around 20 players showed up and I was impressed with how friendly all of them were. Rules were a bit skewed for my taste and I prefer a 500 point game with no unit restrictions but it was fun none the less. Was going to use Black Templars since I have put the last couple of months into them but I am so glad I didn't. They would have gotten torn up with the low points and special army selection/scenario rules that were in play. I won't go into what happened with Cody's games as I wasn't paying too much attention to them but he destroyed the Tau like I have never seen before and learned a lesson about how cheeeeeeeezy Blood Angels are (can you say CDR Dante!!!) Here's a brief run down of what happened with me Orks...
1st Game: Orks vs Blood Angels - Capture and Control
- My Orks got the 1st turn. I deployed the Lootaz in a 6 story building and charged the Warboss and 'Ard Ork truck boyz up the center of the field; all eager to retrieve the objective. Blood Angel Assault Marines emerged from behind a feral hovel. The marines numbered around 20 models with a Librarian and Chaplain to boot. In any case, Lootaz saw an opening and lit them up.The rest of the warband ditched the objective and charged into close combat... The battle was bloody and it cost the Warboss his bike but the marines were slaughtered to the last man. VICTORY
2nd Game: Orks vs Chaos (DA Fallen) - Ambush
- I won the roll off for this one as well. As defender I deployed central table and I had to get my orks off the board. I would happily have chosen to be attackers but my opponent was Fallen Dark Angel, Raven Wing. This means it was 8x bikes and a landspeeder. Opponent got the first turn and it hurt! He took out half of my Lootas with his Land speeder and killed the crap out of my warboss with melta gunners. About this time a large crowd formed around the table and all gleefully watched and predicted the ultimate demise of "my precious" Orks. Ha! They would be in for some disappointment. Same round on my turn, Lootas detroyed his landspeeder and my 'Ard Orks charged his Lord; they would mount his helmet on their wartruck and give the remains of his posh attack bike to the mekboss. Next round the 'ard orks contended with some melta gun fire but only lost 2 or 3 (I was still at 9 orks). Lootaz engaged a 4 strong unit of bikers and destroyed all but one. The 'Ard Ork launcher destroyed the attack bike and the crowd that gathered at the table howled at the games reversal. At this point, I had a wartruck full of 'Ard orks and a 6x Lootaz. He had his 1 warbike which he moved as far away as he could to the opposite side of the table. The player said I would get points for moving off the opposite table edge which I proceeded to do (instead of engaging his last biker). I ended up getting no points for moving my units off the edge. Apparently, I needed to have an HQ go with them but he died in the 1st round. That was decided after the fact... such BS... I could easily have destroyed his chaos biker... would have been like a powerclaw through butter. Anyways... game was a DRAW but I got 15 points for all of my kills.
3rd Game: Orks vs IG - Annihilation
- No bones about it, I got my arse kicked in this game. Only 2 units allowed on the table at 1st. The 3rd would come in as a reserve. By the time my Warboss hit the table my units had been destroyed or were falling back off the table. Opponent had a Battle Tank and 2x Chimeras full of meat. I couldn't hit with my rockets for anything and the Warboss only lasted 2 turns before he was downed by meltagun death! I have to say, the player was really good and I learned some new IG strengths out of the game. LOSS.
Damn, sounded like a lot fun. Fallen Dark Angels, can't say I've seen an army of those, sounds interesting. Wow, IG was the toughest game! That's a shocker. Glad to here Blood Angels were torn a new one, I read so much how cheesy they are. Hmmm, yeah that second game would of pissed me off terribly...but in the end it's just a game, and it's all about having fun.
ReplyDeleteYeah dude. Cody and I had a blast! I am so happy to be apart of this hobby. Funny thing though... as hard as we push to get our stuff painted every army that we played against wasn't fully painted(except another ork player). People died when they saw my Templars. So, I will continue to pressure you to enter the battlefield with your beautiful Dark Eldar... they must be seen and felt!!!! DESTROY!!!!RAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood battle report, good to see the orks winning against the BA. Sounds like the scenario beat you and not the IG who just got lucky.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to read about ork goodness and see how an ork does what orks do check out the book "Dakkatoof" at http://dakkatoof.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the props Skeeter! I love the concept you've developed from Sporling to Warboss. You should totally submit it to the Black Library and see what comes up. If I can get some time outside of work, fam and painting I will def give her a read.
ReplyDeleteGood to know you and stay tuned...
