The Hoth System

Far from Holy Terra in the eastern fringe of the galaxy is the Hoth system. The Hoth system is among the unique of the galaxy as it has four habitable planets. Unfortunately, this uniqueness extends as it is at the far edge of the galaxy and experiences frequent warp storms.

Monhoth
The planet of Monhoth is the rocky, desert planet where temperatures soar and relief from the baking sun is nonexistant. The main economic activity of the planet is strip mining and processing all available resources. Secondary to the strip mining operations is maintaining the condensation towers to provide water for the planet.

Dyhoth
The planet Dyhoth is an agriworld of lush valleys, abundant rivers, and vast oceans. Of the planets of the Hoth system it is the most splendid and hospitable. Unfortunately, it is the least defensible and the softest target for attacks by invaders. Fortunately, the frequent blood shed keeps the world vibrant and productive. Between incursions it provides a tremendous variety of foods for the Hoth system.

Trihoth
The planet Trihoth is a barren lifeless world though it wasn’t always such. It had been a productive industrial world and had the Imperium continued to expand beyond the Hoth system in the sector it may well have become a forgeworld. When Trihoth rebelled against the Imperium during the first major warp storm (referred to as Emperato Amnisiatus by the people of the Hoth system) it sparked the First Intra-Hoth War.

Monhoth and Dihoth both failed to repel the rebellious invaders and for several hundred years the Hoth system was a system out of the Emperor’s Light. When the warp storms calmed and the Imperium returned they demanded tithes to the Emperor. When the Hoth system refused to pay the Imperium sent its forces to crush the rebellion. Under the leadership of Saint Lord Governor Marshall Lukus Humil the rebellion crumbled under the sheer force of the Emperor’s chosen one. However, a demanding inquisitor believed the rebellion was inspired by the taint of Chaos and the warp storm a symptom of the infection. The inquisitor ordered the purging of the planet from orbit.

Currently the planet is used as storage for Imperial tithes that have gone uncollected for the past millennia. Due to its ravaged surface only the hardiest survive and only the most foolish would attempt to steal its bounty.

Tetrahoth
The planet of Tetrahoth is a planet of extremes. Prior to the First Intra-Hoth War it was thought uninhabitable. It is a land where fire and ice are locked in a constant struggle for control of the planet, but with global temperatures usually well below freezing ice and snow pack dominates the planet. Volcanic activity can erupt at anytime in the flatland between the old mountain ranges. This creates deadly lava flow that will swallow swathes of solid packed snow and evaporate it in seconds which creates flash steam pockets that can cook a man in seconds. When this happens further from the equator that sudden flash of steam quickly cools, condenses, and falls from the sky in the form of ice crystals that can sheer flesh.

When the Imperium arrived after the first major Emperato Amnisiatus and found the system in rebellion Saint Lord Governor Marshall Lukus Humil used Tetrahoth as his base for retaking the Hoth system in the name of the Emperor. The first of the mountain bases created was Fortress Echo and served as command headquarters for Imperial forces. Fortress Echo and all of the fortresses that followed were carved out of the ice and mountains and were built to be self sufficient in all regards.

Currently, Tetrahoth is a bastion world. It is by far the most difficult planet to take in the Hoth system as each settlement is protected by miles of ice and rock and each is self sufficient to produce its own war materials, food, and energy. Fortress Echo, the most sacred of sites in the Hoth system is currently the home of the 11th and 38th Combined Tetrahoth Expeditionary Corps.

  1. Excellent read dude. Good background on the Hoth system. So is this part of the 7 pages of background? Slowly teasing us with info until we get to the meat and potatoes?

Love the name 11-38th THeX Corps. Damn dude I'm insanely jealous of your army.

  2. Looks like we have a lush theatre for battle!

Dyhoth looks like a perfect place to breed Orks.
Will look like Trihoth by the time it's all over.

    THeX... nice touch.

  3. Yes this was part of the 7 pages that turned into 10, then 12 then back to 5 pages then....

I am tired of writing and changing, writing and changing. I posted this so that I won't go back and change it and it gives me a frame of reference to continue to follow.

At first the problem was not trying to make it too star wars and keep it 40k. But I did not like it as it was quite generic. So now I am not denying that it is inspired by Star Wars and have embraced it as homage and a bit tongue in cheek toward both.

I am almost done with the regiment/corps history and will post soon.

  4. Dude, embrace the Star Wars man-meat sandwich and salivate with each bite. Should I really type this on the internet?

Seriously, why not embrace the Star Wars inspiration. It's completely cool. Your idea is original and beyond cool. Like I’ve said before, I’m totally jealous of your army and the background your developing. I wish I could do something this cool to combine Star Wars and 40K.

    12 pages! Good God man!
