Gentlemen I give you the future... unfortunately work has crept back into the picture and these guys only received two more coats of paint before I had to put the brush down. Looks like I'll be able to pick them back up on Thursday.
The land speeder and bitz were constructed with magnets to give me maximum options. I have two other Typhoon land speeders that have some magnetized hard points for upgrade-ability, but less total options. I'm going to wait and see how the first turns out before I go hitting the rest. All I know is, Typhoon land speeders rock and when you have three of them you shoot six krak or frag missiles!

I am intrigued on your painting of the white robes. khaki base then layer up to white. How exactly do you do that?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your interest! Bottom line up front is I use the layering method. I start with a base of scorched brown. Sometimes I leave black in the most recessed areas. From there it’s a layer of graveyard earth leaving scorched to show from the recessed areas and thin triangles where the robe might be tattered. The next layer is a mix Graveyard Earth with Bleach Bone, again allowing a bit of the darker colors to show from the edges. A quick thin wash of Devlan Mud draws the colors together and then I begin blending a watered down Bleach Bone to accentuate raised areas. If there is too much contrast from the final highlight I’ll apply another thin wash of Devlan Mud. Oh, I also use a matte varnish to seal it up and dull the area which better distinguishes it from the armor and accoutrements.
