  1. Cool write-up. You guys think of imaginative ways to write posts. Need more pics! Your Black TempIars look great as always. So is it the mobility/speed of the Dreadnaught or just the point cost that's making you rethink fielding him? Do you build him as more ranged or close combat?

  2. Done! I posted the rest of the pics so you can get an idea of set up. We used the local game shop so the terrain is a bit lower end but it was still a good time. Ryan and I have been discussing finding a local community center or renting out a space downtown so we can stash our stuff at a central location and stockpile food and drinks. Maybe the start of our own game club? Can't wait to install the bar!

  3. Oh... and for your questions about the Dread: I use a venerable dreadnought and upgrade him with a twin linked lascannon and the Tank hunters skill (see venerable rules). He lumbers around the table chasing all of the vehicles but has yet to inflict anything except a 'crew stunned' result against a Leman Russ. I guess he has drawn fire away from my Templar crusaders but for the most part I'd rather have more Land Speeders or Terminators. I think his value will prove to be greater against Chaos Space Marines and Eldar, especially now that I picked up a missile launcher arm bit which will focus him on pure fire support.

  4. Great write up. THex gettin some recognition.

The bit on Fjorin where you wrote "I thought he died. He did not," was fucking great. As I write I am still laughing. Do you have a special model for him?

2 land speeders did all that damage? Are you still using the old Black Templars codex? I thought I heard a rumor a while ago that they were going to get an update soon. Maybe a White dwarf like they did for the sisters.

As for the dread I can see how it would be difficult to get the angle on a leman russ with him. Would a drop pod be worth it for him? Drop him in behind the line and light up some paper mache rear armor.

  5. Thanks so much dude. Neophyte Fjorin will remain an elusive variable for now. His anonymity some how assists in the humor of the matter.

I'm using the updated BT codex addendum that was posted on GW's site. That update is what has made the Land Speeder (and Terminator Cyclone launcher) so deadly... Krak or Frag Missiles at a Heavy 2 rate of fire. It spells devastation for IG and Sentinels. I totally see how Tau could be a ridiculously effective army... probably my next long range project especially since my painting style is tending more towards anime.

I think you're recommendation for a dreadnought drop pod is right on point. He needs to get into the thick of it as soon as possible. A couple Las-Cannon shots and then "Paaa" assault. "Are you saying pow?"

Although, I discovered the the best way to slay a Russ is to assault it!

  6. Agreed. A Russ in an assault is as defenseless as a prisoner who drops his soap in the shower.

Good god, a 2 shot missle launcher? Damn Spess Mah-eens.

  7. Not enough to start its own post but I will put it here. BBC did a story on 40k. Its not as negative as the title suggests.
