There are two things that I am not thrilled with. They are the underside and the pilots. I will definately have to do something different to the underside on the next one because this one is just bland. The spotlight on the underside sucks I have no idea how to paint it. I am open to suggestions for the underside or painting the spotlight.
The other thing that I would fix is the pilots. Especially at this angle you can tell that they have no legs. That should be corrected anyway as I ordered valkyrie pilot bits from ebay so they have their seats and the top of their legs visible on that one. Hopefully I will be able to fit both of them in that front area like this one.
The flying base is just great. The base makes the model sit up maybe 7 inches off the ground. It is very impressive looking. Although I am not sure if I am going to permanently attach the piece that the post sticks into to the model. I may try some of the tacky stuff.
Absolutely great Joel!!! I love how every now and again you guys make or paint something that just makes you miss a breath. You've so topped my rhino that I'm not even going to post it up.
ReplyDelete20 hours? Now that's the ticket! Nothing like spending such an incredible amount of time on one model; and when it comes to battle, at least she'll be a bit hardier than ork trucks and Marine rhinos.
For the underside? A couple ideas: 1. You could fasten a couple lights or off colored fuel tanks. 2. You could paint black and yellow hazard stripes in choice areas. 3. But if you want to get really flashy, you could cut out a double headed eagle spray-template. Size and placement will be tricky but it will definitely make the underside exciting. Could even go with 2x small ones on either wing.
If not, I wouldn't worry about it at all. I mean, the whole thing looks great and it's not like we're going to see the bottom of the thing all that often. Even when she goes down in flames to righteous lascannon fire, it's not like you're going to flip it on it's back and score the paint job...
A+ Dude!
Dude that is pure AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!Oh my god that thing rocks!!! I love they worn look to it, the thing looks like it could of been a prop for Star Wars. Hats off dude! Give us a group shot with the whole army...wait 3!?!??!?!? AHHH!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJustin, still post the Rhino dude!
Thank you very much. It is a relief to be finished with it.
ReplyDeleteA cut out and paint idea for the bottom is a good idea. Maybe I could find the symbol for the Imperial Navy and add that in. I also like the yellow and black hazard stripes but that requires straight lines and we all know that is not my strong suit.
Definately put the Rhino up.
