First up is a gray base with sand instead of snow flock. The gray sand is dry brushed with white. It probably won't work for the icy tundra I am going for but with a little more depth of color they could be a nice set up for an urban base.
Next is a grey base with black volcanic rock covered in two layers of snow flock. The white ridge in the picture (hard to make out) I was going for like a snow drift. Overall not bad but for the snow drift I would have to do either another coat of flock or paint the little ridge white while leaving the rest grey. On the other hand it looks like a dusting of snow not thick snow pack that i am going for.
Finally is a white base with one coat of snow flock. Overall, I think it looks the best of all of them because it looks like packed snow. The snow drifts on this one are too boxy as it looks like something has been buried in snow. On future ones, if this is the one that is the consesus, I will try to make them more organic and less geometric.
So what do you think? Any suggestions for modification?
I'll have to go with the 3rd one. I honestly love the first one, but it looks more like volcano ash than snow. I'd suggest the 3rd with but smooth out the drift as your saying. Awesome work dude. Now to add my little project from the week.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I would have to go with the second. It looks more like snow than the other two... kind of a snowy slush. But as you said, it's not a packed look. Maybe add a lot more Elmer's glue to the mix to pull the top layer into the medium (further minimizing the granular edges).
